Badass Brat is the epic tale of a young boy and his life long quest to cause annoyance and brattiness to the people around him, primarily his closest family. Well - it's not so much epic as it is silly, and there's no real quest per se. But the rest is true. The comic centers around a nine year old little brat named Buzz Badass (which is why it's called Badass Brat - it's not because he's actually that much of a badass) and all the misery he puts his parents and his siblings through.
Originally, Badass Brat consisted of gag-a-day strips. Quick gags and simple jokes. That's still pretty much the case, I think, but since then there's also been story arcs spanning many strips, and new and recurring characters have been introduced. That's not to say it's become a very plot driven comic. The status quo is mostly the same, but some minor changes do happen from time to time (so it's probably best read from the start anyway - at least if you're as anal about continuity as I am... yeah).
At first, the comic was drawn rather crappily on paper then scanned and colored. It didn't last too long before it became instead drawn rather crappily using a Wacom tablet and my PC (with Phil Elliott's Comic Strip TrueType font for most of the lettering ). I like to think I've made some progress since then, but that's not for me to judge. I'm terrible at judging things, and besides - I, you know, make the darn thing. I first started this webcomic in 2005 because I was bored and I wasn't doing anything creative. From the time it went online on November 14th, 2005 to the summer 2006 this website looked like this. At first, I made a new strip and updated the site five days a week. Later it would become three times a week, and finally it's now being updated pretty much randomly.
The second design of the website went online August 16th, 2006 and remained until the final update of 2009. I don't like to throw things away, so this old version also can still be accessed here. The current version went online in March 2010.
Wait, what's that? You'd rather read the actual comic than read what I have to say about the comic? ...oh, that's not what you said? Well - if you want to check it out anyway the the first strip is as good a place as any to start. The most recent strip is always on the main page and if you want to read the strips in between you could always go to the archives and pick and choose where you want to start. And try to have fun!
